Stranger Things star Sadie Sink brought one of fashion’s biggest trends to Venice while promoting her new movie, The Whale. The star stepped out during the Venice International Film Festival in two looks featuring the ever-popular cutout detail and served up serious glamour from the canal to the red carpet.
On September 4, the actor pulled up to the festival during the daytime press events wearing a white Alexander McQueen poplin midi dress with a full skirt and a sleeveless top with midriff cutouts. Layered over the crisp white dress was a black grommeted harness, adding a touch of toughness to the elegant and timeless summer silhouette. Sadie and her stylist Molly Dickson added a sculptural ring and a pair of black boots to the look to anchor it, and hairstylist Halley Brisker styled Sadie’s long red waves in a half-up style with face-framing bangs. Makeup artist Nina Park kept things natural and minimal for a fresh vibe.
Sadie opted for cutouts later that evening too, hitting the red carpet for the premiere of The Whale in another McQueen design. This time, she wore an icy blue tulle gown with an intricately beaded metallic bodice cut to reveal her midriff, her red hair styled in loose mermaid curls.
According to Dickson, getting this show-stopping gown to Sadie and making sure it fit perfectly was a labor of love. “End of July I received an email from @alexandermcqueen PR w their look books from their most recent collection. This gown was the last image in the look book and I knew right away it was meant to be for Sadie for Venice Film Festival premiere,” Dickson wrote on Instagram. “We fit Sadie 10 days before the film festival in NYC and the gown was not available over those dates. After much persistence and trying to sort out logistical issues we finally were able to get the gown and fit her the day before the premiere in Venice.”
