In her first interview after confirming the separation, the singer tells how the process is going and about her children.
Shakira tells how difficult it is to live this new chapter with her children Milam, 9, and Sasha, 7. The cover of Elle’s October magazine says that because it is a public separation, it is being incredibly difficult to deal with and process everything.
“I have paparazzi camping out in front of my house 24 hours a day,” added Shakira.
The singer tries to protect her children from separation and also from the media, but comments that it is difficult to access news and comments at school. Negative and unpleasant comments are part of the children’s routine.
Shakira says she lives in a “nightmare and will wake up at some point” and that she was disappointed how the media has been treating and vulgarizing the relationship that was once special with the father of her children.
Shakira did not want to talk about the controversies of the end of the relationship – Piqué was accused of infidelity and no longer hides the romance with Clara Chía -, saying only that she sacrificed her career for the benefit of her family and the Barcelona captain.
“I can only say that I gave my all for the relationship and for the family. When Milan went to school in 2014, I decided to put down roots in Barcelona, to be there for my children and for Gerard. One of us had to sacrifice himself. Either he would leave Barcelona and go to the United States, or I would slow down my career and go to Barcelona” – revealed Shakira, in an interview with ELLE.
Regarding the legal disputes between her and Piqué speculated by the Spanish press, Shakira preferred not to go into details. “I think these details are private, at least for now, everything is raw and new. I can only say that I did everything for my relationship and my family” – said the singer.
Remember: In early June, singer Shakira and Barcelona player Gerard, together since 2011, announced their separation. “We regret to confirm that we are splitting up,” they said in a statement to E!
